Leon Garfield (1921-1996) is best known for his historical novels for children, though he also wrote for adults. Although some of these juvenile novels are nautically based only one is historic naval fiction. This novel, Child O'War, is sometimes shown as being co-authored by David Proctor, however it is also described as 'by Leon Garfield in consultation with David Proctor' and I am therefore crediting it to the former.
