Alexander Boyd Hawes, born on 5 May 1947 in Washington, DC was educated at the University Denver, 1965-1969. A Newspaper editor and journalist, he recieved a Pulitzer prize for special local reporting in 1980, a New England Community Service award United Press International and a Sevellon Brown award New England Associated Press Press News Executives Association. He served on the board of directors fornFriends of Sakonnet Lighthouse, from 1989 and the Boston Globe Foundation from 1990.
