Gary Staff worked for Australian airlines as a maintenance engineer and finished his career as a training captain. He has had a life-long passion for the history of the Imperial Navy of Germany and translated many contemporary documents on the subject as well as having an impressive personal collection of photographs from the period, many previously unpublished. He contibuted to a Channel 4 documentary on Jutland, exploring the Imperial Navy’s experience of the battle.
He lives in Melbourne, Australia, but has frequently travelled to Germany and elsewhere to consult relevant archives
