John Molloy was born in Waterford Ireland, and spent his teenage tears as a deck apprentice with Irish Shipping Ltd. The book 'Steady as She Goes' is an account of that four years. Having served as a deck officer and Master in the merchant service he left and spent some years in business before retiring. He now spends his time writing and painting and also fishing in the Atlantic from a small fishing village where he spent all his summer holidays growing up. He also likes to go on foreign holidays, his favourite the Caribbean, where he got some of the subject matter for two books 'The Atlas Murders' and 'An Auld Bed in Havana'.
