Surgn. Rear Adm. Michael Atholl Farquharson-Roberts CBE OStJ PhD MA MB BS FRCS (1947- ) returned to a childhood love of history after retiring as a Royal Naval orthopaedic surgeon in 2007. He gained a PhD in Maritime History from Exeter University in 2013, and is an Associate Research Fellow of the National Museum of the Royal Navy. He was educated at Dorking Grammar School and Westminster Hospital Medical School.
