Nicholas Jellicoe wanted to be a photo-journalist but was lured to New York to work in advertising instead. He grew up in the UK and studied politics at York University and at the "Institut des Etudes Politiques" in Paris. He is married to a Peruvian, naturalised American, Patricia, and has two daughters
He has lived his whole life under the shadow of Jutland. The ongoing controversy surrounding his grandfather’s actions on that day inspired him to undertake a major investigation of the battle and an analysis of the arguments that followed.
