Peter Brooks

Peter Brooks (1938- ) is Sterling Professor of Comparative Literature at Yale University and from 2008-2014 Mellon Visiting Professor in the department of Comparative Literature and the Center for Human Values at Princeton University. He is formerly Professor in the Department of English and School of Law at the University of Virginia. Among his many accomplishments is the founding of the Whitney's Humanities Center at Yale University. Brooks is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work cuts across French and English literature, Law, and psychiatry. He has been married twice and divorced twice, and he has five children. He divides his time between Princeton, NJ and Alexandria, VA.
