Robert Malcomson (1949-2009) was a retired elementary school teacher who specialized in the age of fighting sail, in particular the naval campaigns on the Great Lakes during the War of 1812. Author of numerous books, monographs and articles, he devoted most of his time to research, writing and conducting historical tours of Queenston Heights. Malcomson was a founding member of the Editorial Board of the War of 1812 magazine and a tireless supporter of the publication and many other initiatives dealing with the War of 1812. He was awarded the John Lyman Book Award for Canadian Naval and Military History.
