Set during the War of 1812
Young Tobias Ives, making his first voyage as a cabin boy on his father's ship the Cormorant found sea life all that he had expected, and more so. The time was 1813 and the ship had the problem of running the British blockade as it left the New England coast, plus the added danger of piracy and storms once the Carribbean was reached.
