The extraordinary seamen is Captain Lord Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald. He had a short, successful career with the British Navy early in the 1800’s until political and legal entanglements ended this phase. He then served in the Chilean and Brazilian navies, while those countries liberated themselves and he is considered the father of the Brazillian navy. Later he was able to regain his comission in the British Navy.
