The Sea Panther

A novel about the Commander of the U.S.S. Constitution

Follows the exploits of William Bainbridge, Commander of the U.S.S. Constitution, from 1797 through to his capture of HM Frigate Java in 1812.

(The book is not historically accurate as, amongst other things, all the American frigates, including Philadelphia (36), Essex (32) and Constellation (38), are depicted as 44's. Also HM frigate Java (38) is depicted as a 64-gun ship of the line.)
