Each month I provide a short bio of one of the authors on the site. This month we will look at Joseph B. Icenhower. Joseph Bryan Icenhower (1913- 1994) was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He joined the U. S. N. and during the Second World War commanded the submarine Jallao (SS-368) at Leyte Gulf and was awarded the Navy Cross. In 1947 he was USS Sennet's Commanding Officer during Operation High Jump, an expedition to the Antarctic. He reached the rank of Rear Admiral before retiring. He has written a number of historical and factual books as well as 2 HNF novels for young adults. |
