Historic Naval Fiction Log Book - Your regular update of what's new in nautical literature set in the Age of Sail

October 2016

Last month saw the release of a new book in Alaric Bond's 'Fighting sail' series, The Blackstrap Station, and a new book in the Kydd series by Julian Stockwin, Inferno, is out this month. There is also news of the first book in a new series, The Shores of Tripoli by James L. Haley

I understand that new books by M. C. Muir and Perry Comer are also being released and I expect to be doing articles on them later, so keep an eye on the site if you are following their series.

There are also some non-fiction releases including Hornblower's Historical Shipmates: The Young Gentlemen of Pellew's Indefatigable by Heather Noel-Smith & Lorna M. Campbell and The Burning of His Majesty's Schooner Gaspee: An Attack on Crown Rule Before the American Revolution by Steven Park.

Ronald S. Coddington has a new book available for pre-order in Hardcover and Kindle formats. Faces of the Civil War Navies: An Album of Union and Confederate Sailors will be released worldwide on 30 October 2016.

The Golden Age of Piracy

Benerson Little has a new book available for pre-order in Hardcover and Kindle formats. The Golden Age of Piracy: The Truth Behind Pirate Myths will be released in the US on 25 October 2016 and in the UK on 10 November 2016

Randall Peffer

Randall Peffer holds a 100-ton masters licence and has well over 100,000 miles at sea, mostly in traditional working vessels. He has been the captain of the 55' wooden research schooner Sarah Abbot for twenty-seven years.

He is the author of some crime/romantic suspense novels, non-fiction books as well as over 300 travel-lifestyle features for magazines like National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, Reader's Digest, Travel Holiday, Islands, Sail and Wooden Boat. His travel features appear in most of the US major metro dailies.

Randall Peffer teaches writing and literature at Phillips Academy, Andover and sails out of his homeports of Marion, Massachusetts and Great Guana Cay, Abaco. He is the author of a HNF series set during the American Civil War
