The Royal Marines: A Pictorial History 1664-1987

Over 320 years of Royal Marines history are captured in pictures illustrating the versatility of this regiment of Sea Soldiers. Their motto PER MARE PER TERRAM-BY SEA BY LAND-is fully reflected in the wide-ranging photographs appearing in this book. The change in emphasis of the roles of the Corps during this time can be seen clearly. Among the 350 illustrations are also included early prints and paintings, recruiting posters and cartoons.
