A paddle steamer intends to break the Federal blockade during the American Civil War.

At length all was in readiness. The Flamingo had been stuffed and loaded with cotton until absolutely not another bale could be stowed. The bunkers fairly overflowed with coal. The fore-cabin had been fitted up as well as its lindted space permitted ; and
Mr. Sinclair and the boys, having taken a fond farewell of their families, went aboard.
