Commander Archy Buller RN is a typical Edwardian aristocrat who beds the beautiful Countess Miranda Reitzberg-sonderlong, wife of an influential German naval officer.. Buller, with US naval commander Whitney Kyle, reviews foreign naval forces and informs First Sea Lord Jackie Fisher that Britain needs an entirely new ship to maintain naval superiority. A large new British battleship to be named Dreadnought is being secretly built and Fisher confides in Buller and asks him to feed the countess false specifications for the hoping she will pass them on to her husband and German shipbuilders will produce inferior ships. Buller and his friend Rod McLewin were observers at the battle of Tsushima between the Russian Baltic Fleet and the Japanese Imperial fleet. When the new class of ships is built Buller is givenn command of HMS Incontestable and engages the German fleet. |
