Charles Henry Eden (1839-1900), was born in England and travelled to Moreton Bay, Australia in 1863. He tried various occupations, including digging for gold, before being appointed a police magistrate and sub-collector of customs in 1868. He was dismissed from those posts in 1870 and returned to England where he later wrote sixteen novels and numerous travel books, one of which is naval fiction. Many of his novels are not copyright in many countries and some are available as free eBooks
