Death in Deep Waters

In the autumn of 1940, when Germany's dream of world domination looked set to founder on the rock of Britain's intransigence, Hitler initiated a building program of large U-cruisers capable of carrying the war to new horizons. This book tells their story, relating how they fought alone, plundering Allied shipping in the far corners of the deep oceans, and how, in the end, they were defeated by the courage and fighting skills of the little ships of the Royal Navy and the dogged determination of Britain's merchant seamen to deliver their cargoes despite the fearful odds stacked against them.
